This award is open to data centre operators and owners across the island of Ireland who can demonstrate outstanding achievement in energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and sustainable energy management. The judges will want to understand how you are addressing the high energy demands of data centres through innovative design, operational excellence, and the adoption of low-carbon technologies. You must explain what has been achieved to date and outline your future ambitions, supported by a clear energy strategy, defined targets, and robust performance data showing year-on-year improvement. Entry is by a 5 A4 page submission; the judges will be looking for clarity, relevance, and strong evidence of delivery against the criteria listed below.

  • Organisation Background: Outline the size, scale, and nature of the data centre operation. Include annual energy consumption, PUE metrics where applicable, and any relevant accreditation, benchmarking, or external validation.
  • Strategy Background: Provide a background to your energy and carbon strategy, outlining its development, objectives, and measurable targets, including efficiency, resilience, and emissions reduction goals.
  • Implementation: Describe how the strategy has been implemented, including cooling optimisation, IT efficiency, renewable integration, waste heat recovery, and demand management initiatives.
  • Organisation Commitment: Outline staff engagement, governance structures, and stakeholder involvement supporting energy performance improvements.
  • Outcomes & Results: Detail achieved reductions in energy use and emissions, improvements in efficiency metrics, and increased renewable usage. Provide year-on-year comparisons where possible.
  • Supporting Facts & Statements: Include any additional data, certifications, or innovations that strengthen the entry.
