Liffey Meats has officially switched on a pioneering €3 million dual renewable energy project at its Ballyjamesduff facility, now recognised as Ireland’s largest behind-the-meter solar and wind installation.

The site integrates a 4.5MW solar farm—comprising 6,640 high-efficiency panels—with an existing 3MW wind turbine, forming a hybrid system designed to boost energy resilience and slash emissions. The project is expected to offset 590,000kg of CO₂ annually, positioning Liffey Meats as a standout in sustainable agri-food operations.

Delivered in partnership with Activ8 Solar Energies and supported by SEAI funding, the initiative sets a new standard for industrial-scale clean energy in Ireland. Beyond powering its operations, Liffey Meats aims to lead by example in building a carbon neutral value chain.
