Jollibee Group has switched commissaries and logistics facilities in the Philippines to 99 per cent renewable electricity sourced from First Gen Corporation's geothermal plants, marking a milestone in operational reliability and sustainability objectives, ABS-CBN reports.

First Gen currently supplies 11 MW of electricity from geothermal power plants to Jollibee Group facilities. The transition expects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 70 per cent across covered sites, delivering material reductions aligned with the company's Joy for Tomorrow sustainability agenda.

A ceremonial activation occurred on 29 January at the Jollibee Group commissary in Laguna, bringing together company leadership and local stakeholders to formally commence renewable electricity use. Michael Ong, president for manufacturing and logistics at Jollibee Group, said: "Switching our commissaries to 99% renewable electricity enables us to build a sustainable and reliable energy foundation for our growing operations."

The transition strengthens the energy foundation supporting the group's global expansion, ensuring growth is underpinned by stable, renewable power. Joseph Tanbuntiong, Jollibee Group Philippines chief executive and global head of the Jollibee brand, said: "Behind every meal we serve is a long chain of work that begins in our commissaries. How we power these facilities matters."

Carlo Vega, chief customer engagement officer at First Gen, welcomed the renewed partnership. "The shift to geothermal and solar electricity reflects the Jollibee Group's disciplined approach to growth—investing in reliable energy systems that strengthen operations today and support expansion across its Philippine and global footprint," Vega said.

In 2023, Jollibee Group contracted First Gen to install 17,000 solar panels with over 9 MW capacity at commissaries and distribution sites in Parañaque and Laguna, completed in 2024.
