Fugro has secured a pivotal seven-year framework with EirGrid to lead geodata surveys for the “Powering Up Offshore – South Coast” initiative—an essential step in linking future offshore wind farms to Ireland’s national grid.

The project spans complex terrain from shore to sea. Fugro’s integrated geophysical, environmental, and geotechnical insights will guide the development of offshore substations and cable routes, enabling smarter engineering decisions while reducing environmental and operational risks.

By delivering real-time data through its VirGeo® platform and partnering with local suppliers for services like drone surveys and metocean data, Fugro is embedding innovation and economic value into every layer of the project.

The effort marks a critical milestone in supporting Ireland’s 80% renewable energy target, helping turn offshore potential into grid-scale power.
