Dominic Schone has joined the judging panel for the Business Energy Achievement Awards 2026. A Sustainability Specialist at Enterprise Ireland's Sustainability Department, Schone joined the organisation in 2024 to drive decarbonisation across Ireland's industrial base, leveraging state-aid funding to invest in impactful, large-scale projects that support Irish industry's green transition. His role sits at the intersection of public policy, investment strategy, and industrial sustainability, making him well placed to assess the ambition, commercial viability, and systemic impact of the energy achievements competing for recognition at this year's awards.

The focus of his current work is on identifying and backing projects that are not only impactful in their own right but demonstrative in nature, capable of setting precedents and inspiring replication across Ireland's wider industrial landscape. That emphasis on scale and transferability gives Schone a sharply developed sense of what separates genuinely transformative energy achievement from incremental progress, a distinction that is central to the evaluation process at the Business Energy Achievement Awards.

Before joining Enterprise Ireland, Schone held several positions at IDA Ireland across technology, engineering, climate-tech, and industrial decarbonisation. That FDI background gave him extensive exposure to how multinational organisations approach energy strategy, investment decisions, and sustainability commitments within the Irish market. It also sharpened his understanding of the commercial and regulatory conditions that either accelerate or constrain Ireland's ability to attract and retain investment in the green economy.

His academic formation reinforces that applied expertise. Schone holds a BA from the University of Galway, an MSc in Strategy, Innovation and Management, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Climate Entrepreneurship, a combination that reflects a deliberate and well-structured investment in the skills needed to operate at the frontier of Ireland's sustainability transition.

His appointment adds a policy-informed, investment-oriented perspective to a judging panel equipped to evaluate energy achievement across every dimension that matters.
