Earlier this year, Bulmer’s Ireland was recognised with the Best Energy Achievement in Food & Beverage award at the Business Energy Achievement Awards 2025, celebrating its innovative approach to renewable energy and operational sustainability.
The Clonmel site features over 10,000m² of solar panels generating up to 1.13 MWh annually, alongside a new ammonia heat pump system that converts waste heat from refrigeration and evaporation compressors into usable energy, dramatically reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Judges praised Bulmer’s for its strategic and measurable impact on sustainability, highlighting initiatives such as a 51% renewable heat share and a 40% reduction in total energy use since 2008, reflecting clear progress on Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
“With projects like solar arrays and ammonia heat pumps, supported by transparent investment and carbon-savings data, Bulmer’s demonstrates a deep understanding of sustainability and embeds it across business operations,” the panel noted.
As momentum builds from the 2025 winners, Bulmer’s success sets a benchmark for future entrants, encouraging organisations to push the boundaries of energy efficiency, innovation, and sustainable practice. Its achievement exemplifies how technical expertise, strategic planning, and environmental commitment can deliver measurable results while inspiring peers across industries in 2026.
The Business Energy Achievement Awards continue to provide a national platform to celebrate innovation, operational excellence, and low-carbon leadership, spotlighting organisations that are actively shaping Ireland’s energy transition.
