During the Business Energy Achievement Awards 2025 earlier this year, Ballykilcavan Brewing was recognised for achieving two ambitious goals: reducing energy use per hectolitre of finished beer by 50% from their 2021 baseline and eliminating all Scope 1 and 2 emissions from the business by the end of 2024.
Both targets were successfully met, earning Ballykilcavan Brewing the Best Energy Achievement in FMCG award for its commitment to operational and environmental excellence.
Judges praised Ballykilcavan for their depth of execution and outstanding results. “This entry continues to shine as one of the standout SME submissions, delivering measurable energy reductions and bold decarbonisation outcomes,” the panel said.
“With a clear strategy, smart measures, and exceptional achievements—including renewable power adoption, energy efficiency gains, and major Scope 1 and 2 reductions alongside increased production—Ballykilcavan exemplifies what true sustainable competitiveness looks like,” the panel added.
The Business Energy Achievement Awards have quickly become a leading benchmark for energy excellence in Ireland, celebrating organisations and leaders driving the transition to a low-carbon economy.
The programme recognises those actively reducing energy consumption, adopting cleaner power sources like solar or wind, implementing strategic energy purchasing, and developing innovative solutions to manage and reduce their carbon footprint. The awards provide a platform to highlight innovation, collaboration, and leadership across a wide range of sectors.
