Celebrated last year for its long-standing and deeply embedded commitment to sustainability, Astellas Ireland Kerry Plant emerged as one of the standout performers at the Business Energy Achievement Awards 2025, securing three awards across energy achievement, team excellence, and decarbonisation innovation.

The Kerry-based facility was named Best Energy Achievement in Life Sciences, with judges highlighting Astellas’ leadership in sustainability since 2003 — well ahead of industry norms. Recent milestones, including a 1.6 MW increase in onsite solar PV capacity, were recognised as evidence of a strategy that consistently translates long-term vision into tangible results.

Astellas also claimed the title of Best Energy Management Team – Large, reflecting the strength of its organisational approach. Judges praised the clarity of goals and targets, an impressive team structure with specialised working groups, and a track record of exceeding expectations.

Completing the hat-trick, the plant was awarded Innovation in Decarbonisation – Large, with judges commending its mature, standards-led approach to emissions reduction. The integration of ISO and complementary standards since 2013, alongside achievements such as My Green Lab certification, was cited as a benchmark for sustained decarbonisation in complex life sciences environments.

Astellas Kerry Plant’s triple recognition reflects the evolving standards of the Business Energy Achievement Awards, where excellence is defined not only by innovation, but by continuity, governance, and the ability to embed sustainability at the core of business operations.

As the focus shifts toward the 2026 awards cycle, the question now facing the sector is clear: which organisations will rise to match — or build upon — the level of sustained, high-impact energy leadership set by Astellas?
